A slow morning, in five movements
The shape of a morning that starts softly — light, water, warmth, a page, and one chosen intention.

Mornings set the temperature of the whole day. This is the sequence I return to when I want the day to begin gently rather than all at once.
1. Light before screens
Open the curtains first. Let the room tell you what kind of day it is before anything else does. The phone stays face-down until the fourth movement.
2. Water
A full glass, room temperature, sometimes with lemon. It is small, but it is the first promise kept.
3. Warmth
Kettle on. Tea in a cup that feels good in the hands. While it steeps, nothing else is required — this is the pause the rest of the morning grows from.
4. One page
A single page in the notebook. Not a plan; just what is present.
- What am I carrying from yesterday?
- What does my body need today?
- What would make today feel tended?
5. One intention
Choose a single word or line for the day and write it at the top of the page.
Not a list of everything — just the one thing I'd like to remember by evening.
On harder days: keep only movements 2 and 3. The ritual bends; it doesn't break.
